MITCHELL — Here comes one last March snow blast.
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says to expect strong winds and snow on Friday in another storm during what seems to be a never-ending winter season.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the forecast is calling for a total of 6 inches of snow in Mitchell. Officials say there is a 79% chance of 2 inches of snow and a 63% chance of 4 inches of snow. Precipitation is expected to begin Thursday night with a rain/snow mix and snow is expected to continue throughout Friday, with winds gusting up to 50 mph.
The weekend forecast looks much more like spring, with Saturday's high temperature forecast to be 43 and Sunday at 52.

If Mitchell School District calls off in-person classes Friday, there will be no additional make-up days added to the end of the school year. Now, all school cancellations are considered e-learning days in lieu of face to face, said Mitchell interim superintendent Joe Childs. The final day of classes this school year is set for Friday, May 26.
