BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — A 24-year-old man arrested Friday morning, April 12, accused of randomly throwing or pushing a 5-year-old boy from a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America has had other violent incidents at the Bloomington shopping center, court records show. The man, identified by police as Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, was accused in July 2015 of throwing things off the upper level of the mall to the lower level. He also refused to give his name to police and resisted arrest.
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings running back Roc Thomas has been charged with felony possession of marijuana after police found more than 143 grams of the drug in his Mendota Heights apartment. Thomas, 23, was arrested Jan. 16 when officers executed a search warrant at his apartment in the 700 block of South Plaza Way. Thomas was booked into the Dakota County jail in Hastings and charged by summons Feb. 28 in Dakota County District Court.
APPLE VALLEY, Minn -- The young man who pushed an 8-year-old boy off the top of a water slide on Tuesday, sending him 32 feet to concrete below, bit a lifeguard at the same Apple Valley water park less than three weeks earlier but was not charged for that incident or told to stay away, according to police.
HASTINGS, Minn.—A Hastings man is jailed in connection with the deaths of a Shoreview mother and daughter who were killed Monday when a boulder — 3 feet across and weighing 800 pounds — fell off a dump truck and crashed into their car, police said. On Wednesday, Rosemount police detectives identified Czeck Services as the company that owned the truck involved in the crash and determined that its owner — Joseph Paul Czeck, 33 — was the driver, Rosemount Police Chief Mitchell Scott said.

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. -- Inver Grove Heights police on Friday identified the man shot by a clerk at a Verizon Wireless store during a foiled attempted robbery Thursday morning, and also released details about a second suspect who remains at large. Jamaal Marquie Mays, 32, of Crystal, was shot by a clerk at the Cellular Connection as the two exchanged gunfire at about 11 a.m. Thursday.
INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. -- A man who allegedly was trying to rob a cellphone store in Inver Grove Heights on Thursday morning was shot by the store clerk during an exchange of gunfire, according to police. The man, who is believed to be in his mid to late 20s, was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with several gunshot wounds, Lt. Joshusa Otis said. His condition is unknown. An accomplice who fled the store after the shooting remains at large.
