The Palace City Youth Basketball League, announced in July, has nearly 400 children from Mitchell and the surrounding area registered for its first winter of operation.
Balance was one of three South Dakota teams to make the trip to nationals, joining Mitchell's Palace City All Stars and Sioux Falls' Dakota Spirit, but both Chamberlain teams took home the ultimate prize.
Jones was a standout in high school, placing five times in states for the Kernels from 1994 to 1998 while winning two state championships before a successful career at SDSU
