Yankton records 16 hits in South Central League win over Freeman


YANKTON -- The Yankton Lakers had six players record multiple hits, as it finished with 16 hits in a 14-6 win over Freeman in South Central League play on Monday.

Miles Carda and Collin Zahrbock both had two doubles, as Carda and Owen Feser each finished with three hits. Rex Ryken, Drew Lawrence and Sam Mooney all added a pair of hits, including Mooney hitting a triple. Carda, Feser, Zahrbock, Lawrence and Mooney each recorded two RBIs, as well. Kieren Luellman picked up the win, as he held Freeman to six runs (one earned) on eight hits and four walks in a seven-inning start.

Trey Christensen suffered the loss for Freeman, allowing eight runs (seven earned) over six innings. Allan Scherschligt doubled, while Jackson Fiegen and Nathan Weier each had two hits. Jake Weier drove in two runs.

Yankton (6-5, 6-5 South Central) hosts Lesterville on Thursday. Freeman (4-10, 4-7 South Central) hosts Crofton (Neb.) on Thursday.
