Area wrestling roundup: Warriors go undefeated in triangular
WINNER—Winner cruised to two wins at the Winner triangular as the Warriors defeated Wagner (57-18) and Burke/Gregory (39-18). The Storm also picked up a win, defeating Wagner 60-23.
The triangular saw Burke/Gregory's Frank Even (152 pounds) and Ethan Dargatz (285), as well as Winner's Riley Shippy pick up two pins each. Even pinned Winner's Cailob Week in 3:15 and took 4:22 to take down Preston Nedved, of Wagner, while Dargatz pinned Wagner's Dawson Lensing and Winner's Boston Morehart in 35 seconds and 3:43, respectively. Shippy pinned Wagner's Nolan Dvorak in 2:41 and Burke/Gregory's Tyler Murray in 42 seconds.
The Storm's Owen Hansen (106) and Jackson Eklund (145) also had two wins, along with Winner's Kaden Keiser (120) and Wagner's Bradyn Lhotak (126) and KJ St. Pierre.
In the Winner vs. Wagner match, Winner's Kaleb Osborn, Aaron Gilchrist and Trevor Peters all pinned their opponent. Meanwhile, Lensing won a 10-3 decision over Elijah Blare.
Wagner's Riley Roberts and Lance Soukup and Burke/Gregory's Mason Hood and Jordan Vosika all won via pin in their match.
Against Burke/Gregory, Winner's Riley Orel, Wyatt Turnquist, Sam Kruger and Landon Debus all won via pin. Jack Kruger won a 10-3 decision over Hood, Willuweit won a 11-8 decision over Burke/Gregory's Rhoss Oliver and Jeremiah Beck won an 11-3 major decision over Preston Norrrid, of Winner.
MVPCS picks up two wins
MOUNT VERNON—Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney scored a pair of wins while hosting a quad on Thursday. The Titans defeated Sioux Valley (57-9) and Garretson (45-36), though lost to Parker (45-32).
Brandon Bosworth (113) had a productive day for the Titans as he recorded three pins. He pinned Parker's Logan Buseman in 2:31, Garretson's Jayse Miller in 5:12 and Alex Stein, of Sioux Valley, in 1:07. Jesse Hastings (220) didn't waste time in his two matches, pinning Parker's Jesse Walton in 50 seconds and Sioux Valley's RJ Perry in 1:01.
Hadley Tobin (106), Matt Koch (138) and Hunter Pranger (152) all scored two wins for the Titans, too. Tobin and Koch both pinned their Garretson opponent in 5:25 and 1:46, respectively, while Tobin won a major decision (9-0) over Sioux Valley's David Knutson and Koch won by technical fall (20-2) over Parker's Kaleb Buseman. Pranger won his matches by tech fall and a 4-1 decision over Blake Eldeen, of Parker.
Also, Thomas Baker (182) pinned Garretson's Hayden Stoterau in 58 seconds, Kellen Cassidy pinned Parker's Geoff Dunkelberger in 50 seconds and Cole Pranger (170) picked up a 1-0 decision over Garretson's Parker Schlenker.
Lyman claims pair of wins
PRESHO—Lyman had no trouble picking up a couple of wins on Thursday at its triangular. It cruised by Sully Buttes (72-3) and Miller/Highmore-Harrold (40-25).
Against Sully Buttes, Kellen Griffith (113) pinned Lane Meyers in 34 seconds, while Gunner Johnson (170) did the same in 3:09 to Kash Weischedel.
Lyman picked up two more pins against Miller/Highmore-Harrold. Shilo Mowry (120) pinned Colby Rittel in 1:45, while it took 1:01 for Tyron Oldenkamp (138) to pin Corey Resel. Bryson Muirhead (106) won a 9-0 major decision over Gunner Brueggeman, as well.
