FARGO, N.D. -- Since losing his opening match of the U.S. Marine Corps Cadet and Junior Nationals, Nash Hutmacher has now won 12 consecutive matches.

On Thursday, Hutmacher won his first four matches to advance to the 285-pound Junior Greco-Roman semifinals once again.

Hutmacher began his day by beating Texas’ Xavier Diaz by technical fall, 11-0, in 24 seconds. The Chamberlain native would follow it up by pinning Oregon’s Jayden de Fond in 32 seconds and Iowa’s Colton Kinnison in 1 minute, 33 seconds.

In the quarterfinals, Hutmacher battled a familiar face in Aydin Guttridge, of Illinois, who was the freestyle runner-up earlier in the week and also lost to Hutmacher in the semifinals last year. Hutmacher was once again victorious by decision.

Winner’s Wyatt Turnquist lost both of his 138-pound matches, first by technical fall to Illinois’ Delon Kanari, 15-5, in three minutes and then to Idaho’s Alexzander Barajas, 11-1, in 3 minutes, 23 seconds.

Semifinal action begins at 9 a.m. Friday.
