Winner girls cross country wins Cougar Invite

BURKE--Winner ran away with the girls team title at the Cougar Invitational on Thursday. The Warriors scored 25 points to beat Kimball/White Lake by four.

BURKE-Winner ran away with the girls team title at the Cougar Invitational on Thursday. The Warriors scored 25 points to beat Kimball/White Lake by four.

Sidda Schuyler paved the way for the Warriors, finishing in 19:30 to win the girls title by 16 seconds. Andes Central/Dakota Christian's Isabella Brouwer took third in 19:32, followed by Kimball/White Lake's Sidney McCord (20:27) and Gregory's Emma Thomas (20:55) in fourth and seventh, respectively.

On the boys side, Thaniel Schroeder, of Freeman Academy/Marion, won the boys race by 37 seconds in 17:06. Teammate Titus Roesler came in third at 17:49, helping the Bearcats finish second as a team. Burke's Jackson Liewer crossed the line in 18 minutes to take fifth. Kade Watson finished in seventh for Winner at 18:07.
