Two area girls basketball teams -- Winner and Corsica-Stickney -- are both ranked No. 1 in their respective classes in the preseason South Dakota Prep Media Basketball Poll.
Winner received 13 of the 14 first-place votes and 69 points to earn the top spot in Class A. St. Thomas More earned the other first-place vote and 55 points to secure No. 2 in the poll. Hamlin (30), Tea Area (23) and West Central (17) round out the top-five.
Corsica-Stickney was the unanimous No. 1 pick in the Class B girls poll and received all 14 first-place votes. Castlewood (48) and Colman-Egan (26) are No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Faith (23) and De Smet (18) round out the top-five.
In the Class B boys poll, De Smet received 11 first-place votes and 66 points to secure the No. 1 spot. White River (47) and Platte-Geddes (38) are No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. White River received one first-place vote, while Platte-Geddes picked up the other two first-place votes. Viborg-Hurley (17) and Dell Rapids St. Mary (16) round out the top-five.
In Class AA boys, Sioux Falls Roosevelt picked up nine first-place votes and 64 points to grab the No. 1 spot. Yankton earned five first-place votes and 61 points to check in at No. 2. Brandon Valley (36), Washington (17) and Harrisburg (13) round out the top-five. Mitchell is honorable mention.

In Class A boys, Dakota Valley grabbed the top spot with 11 first-place votes and 67 total points. Sioux Falls Christian received three first-place votes and 55 points to come in at No. 2 in the class. Tea Area (38), Dell Rapids (15) and Sioux Valley (14) complete the top-five.
In Class AA girls, Sioux Falls O’Gorman picked up 10 first-place votes and 65 points to earn the No. 1 spot. Sioux Falls Washington received four first-place votes and 56 points to come in at No. 2. Harrisburg (43), Brandon Valley (21) and Rapid City Stevens (13) complete the top-five. Mitchell is honorable mention.
