Winner/Colome records nine hits in Legion baseball win

Winner/Colome topped Gregory for a Legion baseball victory on Thursday.

GREGORY -- Jackson Kinzer led Winner/Colome Post 169 at the plate and on the mound on Thursday, guiding it to a 6-2 Legion baseball win over Gregory Post 6.

Kinzer recorded three of Winner/Colome’s nine hits, while also fanning eight batters in his seven-inning start. Gregory also recorded nine hits against him, but he didn’t issue a walk as he held Gregory to two runs (one earned).

Carter Brickman had two hits for Winner/Colome, while Phillip Jorgensen and Calvin Ringing Shield both drove in a pair of runs. Ringing Shield, Kinzer and Layton Thieman all doubled, as well.

Aaron Sundquist took the loss for Gregory, giving up six runs (five earned) and striking out five batters. Hunter Van Niewenhuis, Tyson Mayer and Tommy Determan all had two hits.

Winner/Colome (7-4) plays Stanley County on Sunday in Winner.
