SIOUX FALLS -- The Dakota Wesleyan University men's golf team took eighth place in its final meet of the season during the Great Plains Athletic Conference qualifier No. 4 Monday at Prairie Green in Sioux Falls.

The Tigers finished sixth in the GPAC standings, which tally all four conference qualifiers.

DWU hosted the round Monday, which originally was scheduled to take place at Wild Oak in Mitchell but was moved due to poor conditions after the weekend storms and hurt the Tigers' chances at finishing toward the top.

"We had been working really hard and preparing to play on our home course," head coach Adam Anderson said. "We were really high on the fact that we could win on our home course. The course change took a lot of wind out of our sails."

Anderson said the team did not play well at all but gained valuable experience for next season.

"We have all five guys coming back next year," he said. "This was a big learning year for us and I think we can build and improve on that and improve next year."

Travis Johnson and Mac Young each scored 84 for the team's best mark of the day.
