Alyssa Weidler netted the game-winning goal in the 71st minute to power the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s soccer team to a 3-2 win over Hastings (Neb.) on Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Sports Complex.
It was the final goal in Weidler’s hat trick for the Tigers. She netted a goal in the first half, and then another coming out of halftime to extend DWU’s lead to 2-0. Hastings answered with a pair of goals, but her final score pushed the Tigers ahead for good.
Hastings outshot DWU 13-12 (10-7 shots on goal), but Hannah Bowes recorded seven saves in the win.
DWU (3-0) plays College of Saint Mary at 11 a.m. on Sept. 26 in Omaha, Nebraska.
