Walk-off win helps Mitchell Black split a pair to open Midsummer Classic

SIOUX FALLS -- After a tough 7-4 loss to Brandon Valley to open play at the Sioux Falls Midsummer Classic, Mitchell Black rallied for a 6-5 walk-off win over Yankton in teener baseball action.

Trailing by a run heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, Mitchell recorded two walks and a single to load the bases with two outs. In both of the final at-bats, Yankton was able to put Mitchell on the ropes with a full count, but AJ Siemsen and Carter Miller were able to draw walks to secure the win.

Lukas Bennett went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Mitchell, while Dylan Soulek and Connor Hohn each drove in a run.

In the first game, Brandon Valley opened up a 5-1 lead after three innings, and despite a late surge, Mitchell could not recover.

Soulek and Noah Larson each went 2-for-4, with Soulek driving in a run. Hudson Haley also drove in a run for Mitchell.
