MARTIN — Wagner improved to 2-0 on the season with a 57-6 win over Bennett County Saturday in Class 11B football action. The game was ended by the 50-point rule at halftime.
The Red Raiders jumped to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter with a Henry Hayward 42-yard touchdown run, a 30-yard touchdown pass from Dustin Honomichl to Riley Roberts and a Honomichl touchdown run.
Honomichl had a hand in five total touchdowns (three rushing, two passing) and was a perfect 10-for-10 passing for 192 yards, while posting 61 yards rushing on nine carries. Jhett Breen had seven carries for 74 yards and two touchdowns, and Toby Zephier hauled in four passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Wagner gained 367 yards of offense and held Bennett County to 31 yards on 17 plays.
The Red Raiders (2-0) hosts Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Sept. 3. Bennett County (0-2) hosts Lakota Tech on Sept. 3.

Hanson-Garretson postponed to Monday
Due to severe weather along the South Dakota-Minnesota state line on Saturday, Hanson’s football game at Garretson was postponed due to severe weather.
The game will be played at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Also being played Monday is Class 11AAA game with Sioux Falls Roosevelt at O'Gorman.
