PLATTE -- The Wagner cheer team finished second during the Platte-Geddes Invitational competitive cheer and dance competition Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Platte-Geddes Armory.
Wagner placed second with a score of 162, right behind first-place Bon Homme who had 163.5 points. Dakota Valley claimed third-place with 160.5 points and Platte-Geddes finished fourth with 155.5 points. Dell Rapids rounded out the top five coming in fifth with 147.5 points.
Other area schools in the cheer competition were Wolsey/Wessington (146.5), Winner (119.5), Gregory (119.5), Lyman (115) and Parkston (91).
In dance, Dakota Valley won two categories, Jazz with 186.5 points and POM with 188.5 points, to claim first-place with an overall score of 187.5. Beresford won the hip-hop category with 164.5 points and earned second-place with an overall score of 174.25. Platte-Geddes finished third with a score of 152.25 and placed second in hip-hop at 156.5.
Winner claimed fourth-place at a score of 146 and Gregory finished fifth in dance with an overall score of 122.25.
