ABERDEEN — Cassidy Keller, a native of Canistota, has seen an increased role for the Presentation College volleyball team in recent matches.
Keller, a 5-foot junior defensive specialist, has appeared in 10 matches this season, including starting the last four matches for the Saints. Those matches included nine digs each in a five-set win over Waldorf on Oct. 1 and in a three-set loss at Valley City State on Oct. 9. She had a season-best 11 digs on Sept. 7 against Concordia-Moorhead.
Keller had three service aces in a five-set loss Oct. 8 at Dickinson State.
Presentation (12-9, 2-6 in North Star Athletic Association play) visits Dakota Wesleyan for a 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19 match in Mitchell.
Neises running for Lancers women’s cross country
YANKTON — Mount Marty cross country runner Emma Neises, a freshman from Howard, has been among the Lancers’ contributors on the course in 2021.
Her season-best time came in the meet Oct. 9 at Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa in 22 minutes, 27.2 seconds, finishing in 81st place.
Neises also had top-40 finishes on Sept. 10 at the Red Raider Preview meet in Orange City, Iowa, finishing in 31st (23:13.7) and Sept. 17 at the Morningside Invitational in Sioux City, Iowa, taking 36th place (22:28.9), which was third-best among Lancers’ runners.
The Lancers will host the Mount Marty Invite at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 23 at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, before the Great Plains Athletic Conference meet Nov. 6 at Orange City, Iowa.
Gall playing as a freshman for No. 18 Dordt
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — Jordan Gall, a freshman defensive lineman who graduated from Scotland High School, has seen playing time in most of the season so far for No. 18-ranked Dordt.
A 6-foot-4 defensive end, Gall has recorded one tackle on the season and has played in four of the team’s first five games.
The Defenders have started 4-1 and moved up in this week’s NAIA coaches poll top-25 poll to No. 18 after a 63-21 win over Mount Marty. Dordt has won four straight games since a 25-24 loss at home to Midland on Sept. 4.
Dordt hosts Dakota Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 in Sioux Center.
