AUSTIN, Tex. -- Rebecca Frick has earned another postseason award, this time for her work in the classroom.

The Dakota Wesleyan University senior was named the NAIA Academic All-American team member of the year after posting a 4.0 grade point average as a biology major this season. Frick is the first DWU volleyball player to be named an academic All-American and is one of seven players on this year’s team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Frick led the Great Plains Athletic Conference with 4.6 kills per set and 540 total kills, both of which ranked seventh in the nation.

Five of the seven players on the academic All-American squad had a 4.0 GPA. To be considered, honorees must be named to the all-region team and hold a GPA of 3.3 or higher, while competing in 50 percent of the team’s games.
