PARKSTON -- Wagner won the first set against Parkston by 10 points, but the Trojans rallied to win the second set, only for the Red Raiders to take the third, 25-15, 18-25 and 25-16, for a win in the round-robin Parkston Tournament on Saturday.

Wagner (3-2): Abby Brunsing and Lizzie Tyler had eight kills apiece, while Brunsing also had 10 digs. Emilea Cimpl handed out 23 assists. The Red Raiders travel to Chamberlain on Thursday.

PARKSTON -- Class A No. 3 McCook Central/Montrose scored a big win in the first set of its match against Parkston and then duplicated it in the second for a win in the Parkston Tournament, 25-15 and 25-15.

McCook Central/Montrose (4-1): Emiley Bies had nine assists and 18 digs, while Cassy Knudsen had 14 digs and Abigail Van Ruler pitched in 10 kills. The Fighting Cougars host Class B No. 3 Chester Area on Tuesday in Montrose.

Parkston (2-4): Allison Ziebart came up with 17 digs and Izzy Hohn handed out 13 assists.

PARKSTON -- Class B No. 1 Northwestern breezed to a win in the first set of its match against Class A No. 3 McCook Central/Montrose, but squeaked by in the second set for a 25-15, 26-24 win in the Parkston Tournament. Northwestern went 4-0 and handed MCM its only loss of the tournament.

CHAMBERLAIN -- The season started with a bang for Chamberlain. After dropping the first two sets of the season to Mobridge-Pollock, the Cubs won the next three to win the match, 17-25, 19-25, 25-9, 25-13 and 16-14.

Chamberlain (1-0): Hannah Anderson had 11 kills, three blocks and three aces, while Mya Knippling had 11 kills and three aces. Taylor Toering had 24 assists and Makenzy Mutziger had 10 assists and 14 digs. Chynna Story had 14 digs and six aces. The Cubs play Stanley County today in Fort Pierre.
