The Class A SoDak 16 matches are tonight, with three area teams set to play for state volleyball tournament spots on Nov. 15-17 in Sioux Falls.

Below are capsules of each match involving an area Class A team:

McCook Central/Montrose vs. Dakota Valley

McCook Central/Montrose can punch its ticket to a second straight state volleyball tournament today with a win over Dakota Valley.

The No. 2 Fighting Cougars (23-3) play the No. 15 Panthers (19-14) at 7 p.m. at Sioux Falls Roosevelt in a SoDak 16 match.

MCM's McKenna Kranz leds the team in kills (241) and digs (328). Aleah Ries has logged 231 kills and 289 digs. Jacy Pulse has racked up 289 digs and 164 kills, while Abigail Van Ruler has 182 kills. Emily Bies leads the team in assists with 813, while she's posted 235 digs and 59 aces.

Dakota Valley's offense is led by a pair of underclassmen in sophomore Rachel Rosenquist (233 kills) and freshman Sophia Atichison (214 kills). Ally Beresford also has 1,007 assists and 223 digs.

Winner vs. Pine Ridge

Winner is one away from qualifying for its third state volleyball tournament.

The No. 4 Warriors (25-3) play No. 13 Pine Ridge (21-6) at 6 p.m. in Wall during a SoDak 16 qualifying match.

Winner is powered offensively by Morgan Hammerbeck with 344 kills. She's also notched 341 digs, 46 aces and 13 blocks. Ellie Brozik has posted 221 digs, 202 kills, 61 aces and eight blocks. Abby Marts has 199 kills and 10 blocks. Mackenzie Levi has recorded 468 assists and 130 digs. Addy Root has posted 285 assists and 114 digs. Kalla Bertram has 121 digs, 97 kills and 15 solo blocks.

Duka Thompson has 283 kills and 136 blocks for Pine Ridge, while Taysha Big Crow has 152 kills.

Miller vs. Chamberlain

With a state volleyball berth at stake, Chamberlain plays a familiar foe in a SoDak 16 qualifying match.

The No. 16 seeded Cubs (13-16) play No. 1 Miller (27-2) at 5:30 p.m. at James Valley Christian in Huron. Chamberlain has been swept by Miller twice this season.

Chamberlain, which has never qualified for a state volleyball tournament, is paced by Hannah Anderson's 250 kills, 183 digs, 71 total blocks and 43 aces. Mady Handel has 184 kills, 51 digs and 25 blocks. Makenzie Sorensen has registered 250 assists, while Makenzy Mutziger has 248 assists. Avany Long has a team-high 293 digs to go along with 105 kills and 44 aces.

The Rustlers are powered by 6-foot-1 junior Kadye Fernholz, who has 453 kills, 315 digs and 73 blocks. Outside hitter VonnaGail Schlechter is second on the team with 279 digs and 244 kills.
