TYNDALL-Wagner took down Burke in two sets on Saturday in the Southeast South Dakota Conference tournament on its way to winning its 11th straight SESD title. Set scores were 25-19 and 25-22.
Wagner (25-4): Brunsing paved the way for Wagner, recording 14 digs and 10 kills. Faith Tyler added eight kills, eight digs and two blocks in the win. Lizzie Tyler and Cimpl dished out 12 and 11 assists, respectively. The Red Raiders host Burke today.
Burke (25-6): Indahl added nine kills and six digs in the loss. Matucha finished with eight digs and six kills, while Schonebaum also recorded eight digs. Swan had a team-best two blocks. The Cougars travel to Wagner today.
Burke 2, Winner 1
TYNDALL-Burke bounced back after dropping the first set Saturday in the SESD Conference tournament to top Winner in three sets in the championship round-robin. Set scores were 16-25, 25-20 and 25-22.
Burke (25-6): Taylee Indahl led the Cougars with 15 digs and 14 kills. Lahna Matucha added eight kills, while Lainee Schonebaum finished with 14 digs. Sierra Swan added two blocks and Bobbi Jo Wischmann finished with 22 assists.
Winner (23-3): Morgan Hammerbeck served four aces to go along with 17 kills for the Warriors. Maggie LaCompte served three and added 21 digs. Mackenzie Levi dished out 21 assists in the loss and Gracie Littau added 17. The Warriors host Platte-Geddes today.
Wagner 2, Winner 0
TYNDALL-Wagner earned a straight-set victory over Winner on Saturday in the SESD Conference tournament in the championship round-robin. Set scores were 25-17 and 27-25.
Wagner (25-4): Faith Tyler recorded 17 digs and 14 kills for the Red Raiders, with Abby Brunsing chipping in with 16 digs and eight kills. Emilea Cimpl and Lizzie Tyler dished out 13 and 11 assists, respectively.
Winner (23-3): Ellie Brozik, Hammerbeck and Littau all had six kills for the Warriors. Addy Root added 13 assists and Kelsey Sachtjen served two aces in the loss.
Bridgewater-Emery 3, SCW 2
FORESTBURG-Bridgewater-Emery left Forestburg with a five-set win over Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Friday. Set scores were 12-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-14 and 15-12.
Bridgewater/Emery (19-6): Kerrigan Schultz served five aces for the Huskies, while Sydney Hoffman and Sophia Potter each added three. Hoffman also had 17 kills and two blocks. Potter dished out a team-high 21 assists in the win. The Huskies play Centerville in Emery on Tuesday.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (16-10): Tesa Jensen served four aces to go along with 15 kills and two blocks for the Blackhawks. Erica Howard recorded a team-best 20 kills, with Madi Moody dishing out 31 assists and recording 32 digs in the loss. The Blackhawks play Mount Vernon/Plankinton in Plankinton on Tuesday.
