Area volleyball roundup: Ethan eases past Hanson
ETHAN -- Class B No. 4 Ethan defeated Hanson in three sets on Thursday in Cornbelt Conference action, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-15.
Ethan (22-4): Mollie Miiller racked up 27 digs for Ethan, while Jessica Bartscher dished out 32 assists and came up with 15 digs. Cameryn Logan led the kill tally with seven, while Karly Gustafson, Miiller and Jada Plastow contributed six kills apiece. Gustafson also added two aces in the win. The Rustlers host Avon on Monday.
Hanson (10-13): Ellie Tuschen tallied 11 digs and six kills for the Beavers, while Morgan Huber added five kills. Abby Kortan and Megan Guericke dished up nine digs apiece, and Jacy Waldera finished with 13 assists in the loss. The Beavers play Scotland on Monday in Alexandria.Chamberlain 3, Platte-Geddes 2
PLATTE -- Chamberlain outlasted Platte-Geddes in a five-set match on Thursday. The Cubs lost the first two set, but rallied for the victory. Set scores were 15-25, 12-25, 25-23, 25-12 and 16-14
Chamberlain (7-13): Hannah Anderson powered the Cubs with 10 kills, four blocks, 18 digs and five aces. Makenzie Sorensen dished out 10 assists. Avany Long stuffed the stat sheet with six kills, three blocks, three aces and 21 digs. Mady Handel added seven kills and five blocks. The Cubs play McLaughlin on Tuesday in Eagle Butte.
Platte-Geddes (9-13): Tori Weins had 24 kills, three digs and a block for the Black Panthers, with Courtney Neuman adding 20 assists, six digs and an ace. Molly Muilenberg had seven kills, four digs and served and ace in the loss. Regan Hoffman recorded 19 digs and Avery DeVries had 10 assists, four digs, three aces and two kills. LAKE ANDES -- Wagner won its 10th consecutive match with a three-set sweep on the road against Andes Central/Dakota Christian, 25-18, 25-6 and 26-24.
Wagner (21-3): Abby Brunsing had 11 kills and 11 digs, while Faith Tyler pitched in eight kills and 10 digs. Emilea Cimpl handed out 18 assists and Lizzie Tyler added 12 assists, five kills, five digs and two aces. The Red Raiders travel to Class A No. 3 Winner on Tuesday.
Andes Central/Dakota Christian (13-8): Brianna Deurmier led AC/DC with 15 assists and seven digs and Tyra Medicine Horn had 18 digs, four kills and three blocks. Isabel Pheifer also had seven kills and eight digs and Mackenzie Muckey had four kills and nine digs. The Thunder play in the Dakota Christian Thunder Nation tournament on Saturday in New Holland.
AVON -- Avon downed Centerville in three sets to pick up a win at home on Thursday. Set scores were 25-4, 25-11, 25-14
Avon (15-7): Madisyn Cameron tallied 12 aces and nine assists to lead the Pirates, while Natalie Zacharias notched four kills. Tori Schryvers grabbed four digs and three aces while Maddie Kocmich, KaCee Zacharias and Ali Sees tallied three kills apiece. The Pirates travel to Ethan on Monday.

Bridgewater-Emery (13-6): Sydney Hoffman paved the way for the Huskies, recording 10 kills, five blocks and two aces. Joslyn Schrank had a team-high 17 digs and Katelyn Kotas added 15.
