Voigt claims Class B two-mile run

RAPID CITY--Gregory's Aaron Voigt earned the Class B state title in the 3,200-meter run on Friday at the South Dakota State Track and Field Meet. The senior won the run in 10-minutes and 8.96 seconds, outlasting Warner's Cody Larson (10:14.10).

Pre-race favorite Thaniel Schroeder, of Freeman Academy/Marion, came in third place with a time of 10:14.56.

Bison's Daniel Burkhalter came in fourth (10:27.63) and Warner's Michael Wirth placed fifth (10:28.86).

Avon's Lauren Sees placed second in the high jump with a leap of 16 feet, 6.50 inches. Hanson's Brooke Weber finished in third place (16-3).

Kimball/White Lake's Christine Gaulke clocked the 800-meter run in 2:25.71, finishing in third place.

Deubrook Area leads the girls team standings. The Dolphins have recorded 54 points, while Ipswich is in second (35.5) and Wall is in third (24).

Bison and James Valley Christian are tied for the boys lead with 24 points. Sully Buttes is third with 21 points.
