VFW Southwest regional underway in Platte

PLATTE -- The South Dakota VFW Class B Under-14 Southwest Regional teener baseball tournament got underway Saturday and Sunday with Gregory and the hosts Platte-Geddes picking up two winners' bracket victories.

PLATTE - The South Dakota VFW Class B Under-14 Southwest Regional teener baseball tournament got underway Saturday and Sunday with Gregory and the hosts Platte-Geddes picking up two winners' bracket victories.

Platte-Geddes beat Winner 5-3 in the second round, while Gregory took down Kimball/White Lake 13-3 to set up an 11 a.m. Tuesday matchup to advance to the championship round. The loser will move into the elimination bracket.

Saturday's first-round games included Winner over Mount Vernon/Plankinton 7-1, Platte-Geddes over Colome 10-6, Gregory over Corsica 7-3 and Kimball/White Lake over Parkston 13-10.

Today's elimination games in Platte include Colome against Mount Vernon/Plankinton at 10 a.m., with the winner taking on Kimball/White Lake at 4 p.m. Corsica will take on Parkston at 1 p.m., with Winner awaiting the victor at 7 p.m.
