CANOVA -- Canova scored the first seven runs of the game to cruise past Flandreau 9-5 in Cornbelt League action Monday.
Derek Miller connected on a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning for the Gang, while Kalub Carmichel and Jared Miller notched back-to-back RBI singles with two outs in the bottom of the second inning.
Jared Miller finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including a two-run home run in the sixth. Carmichel went 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Justin Miller, Garrett Gassman and Tim Gassman had two hits each.
Kendall Gassman allowed two earned runs on five hits and fanned nine over seven innings for Canova, which improved to 16-2.
Aden Laud, Keith Cutler, Brian McGuire and Beau Severtson drove in runs for the Cardinals. Laud and Luke Gassman surrendered five earned runs on 14 hits and struck out eight.

The Gang travels to Colman at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Flandreau (8-9) hosts Madison at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
