Turnovers hurt MCS girls at Madison

MADISON -- Thirty-two turnovers did in the Mitchell Christian girls basketball team Saturday, as the Golden Eagles dropped a 63-23 decision to Viborg-Hurley at the Hefty Seed Shootout at Dakota State University in Madison.

MADISON - Thirty-two turnovers did in the Mitchell Christian girls basketball team Saturday, as the Golden Eagles dropped a 63-23 decision to Viborg-Hurley at the Hefty Seed Shootout at Dakota State University in Madison.

Kirsten Paetow was too tough to stop, as she scored 26 points and tallied 10 points and six steals for the Cougars. Sydney Voss scored 11 points and had seven assists and Emily Bjerkass added 10 points and six assists in the win for Viborg-Hurley.

Mitchell Christian was led by Charlotte Haag's eight points. Taylor Lepke had five points and eight rebounds for Mitchell Christian, which made 21 percent of its shots in the game and ceded the rebounding battle 42-28 to Viborg-Hurley. The Golden Eagles were 3-of-6 at the free throw line.

Viborg-Hurley led 35-16 at the end of the first half, as the teams played two 18-minute halves at the classic.

Mitchell Christian (1-9) plays at Corsica-Stickney on Monday in Corsica.
