YANKTON -- The Dakota Wesleyan University track and field teams captured two individual titles at the Mount Marty invite Saturday.
Morgan Taft saved her best toss for last, capturing the women’s weight toss championship and setting school and facility records in the process. Taft threw 51 feet, 7 3/4 inches to take the win and now ranks ninth in the nation in the event.
On the men’s side Caden Milmine captured first place in the shot put with a heave of 51 feet, 4 1/2 inches, which is fourth all-time at DWU and 10th in the NAIA. Ryan Kienzle took fifth in the event with a throw of 44 feet, 4 inches. Chris Zanotto was third in the weight throw with a toss of 48 feet, 11 3/4 inches.
Cale Strong was third in the men’s triple jump, leaping 40 feet, 2 1/4 inches, while Ashtyn Evans finished second in the women’s long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 3 1/4 inches.
The Tigers host the DWU Invitational Saturday at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex.
