Area track and field roundup: Winner boys, MVP girls capture titles at Wagner Relays
WAGNER—The Winner boys and Mount Vernon/Plankinton girls came out as winners of the Wagner Relays on Tuesday.
Brady Fritz helped the Warriors' team score by winning three events. He took first in the long jump (20-5), triple jump (42-6.5) and also won the 200-meter dash in 22.77 seconds.
Platte-Geddes' Caden Tegethoff won a pair of distance events, including the 800 (2:09.63) and 3,200 (10:20.56). Noah Heesch won both hurdle events for Bon Homme, as he finished in 15.44 seconds in 110-meter hurdles and 43.08 seconds in 300-meter hurdles.
On the girls side, Savannah Risseeuw placed first in the 100 hurdles (15.92) and 300 hurdles (48.23) to help MVP win the meet.
Meanwhile, Andes Central/Dakota Christian's distance ace Isabella Brouwer won the 1,600 (5:33.39) and 3,200 (11:50.8). In sprints, Platte-Geddes' Kaetlyn Engebretson won the 100-meter dash (13.19) and 200-meter dash as she crossed the line in 27.51 seconds.
