MV/P/W defeats Beresford/Centerville
MOUNT VERNON -- The Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Woonsocket high school baseball team defeated Beresford/Centerville Wednesday night 10-9 in eight innings.
Cody London was the winning pitcher for MV/P/W. London had four strikeouts and two earned runs.
Brian Vermeulen went 3-for-5 with a homerun, Justin Davis went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, Deric Denning was 3-for-3 with five RBIs and had a walk-off hit and Charlie Mahaffey was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. This game marked the end of regular season play for MV/P/W.
Little Kernel track meet held today

There will be a Little Kernel track and field meet at 6 p.m. today at Joe Quintal Field in Mitchell.
The event is open to kindergartners to sixth-graders. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m.
