Titus Roesler's two wins propel Freeman Academy/Marion to Great Plains Conference boys track title

Freeman Academy/Marion raced to a win in the Great Plains Conference boys track and field championship Monday.

CORSICA -- Freeman Academy/Marion raced to a win in the Great Plains Conference boys track and field championship Monday.

The Bearcats accumulated 150 points, topping second-place Burke (125) and third-place Centerville (104). Gayville-Volin was fourth with 96 points and Colome was fifth with 84.5.

Titus Roesler accounted for both of FAM’s individual titles, winning the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes, 45.25 seconds and the 3,200 in 10 minutes, 4.97 seconds.

Burke’s Ben Witt won the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 9.99 seconds and won the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 3 1/2 inches. Bryce Frank took the 400 in 55.39 seconds and Sawyer Tietgen bounded 38 feet, 9 1/2 inches to win the triple jump. Taron Serr joined Tietgen, Frank and Witt on the winning 4x400 relay team (45.68 seconds).

Colome’s Riley Shippy won two individual events and was a part of two relay titles. Shippy won the 100 (11.8 seconds) and the 200 (23.95 seconds), while teaming with Rhet Bertram, Hayden Thieman and Kash Heath to win the 4x100 relay in 47.40 seconds. Shippy, Thieman, Michael Supik and Joseph Laprath won the sprint medley in 4 minutes, 4.02 seconds.

Centerville cruised to a win on the girls side, totaling 134 points. Burke was second with 111, while Gayville-Volin was third with 92.5 and Scotland was fourth with 73.5. FAM rounded out the top-five with 64.5.

Burke’s Kailee Frank won a pair of events, winning the 800 in 2 minutes, 34.19 seconds, beating teammate Hallie Person by 0.5 seconds. Frank also took the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 29.81 seconds. Fellow Cougar Piper Hanson swept the hurdles, taking the 100 in 17.51 seconds and the 300 in 50.78 seconds. Elenna Koenig jumped 4 feet, 6 inches to win the high jump.

Makayla Friederich heaved 37 feet, 8 1/2 inches to win the shot put for Scotland, while the Highlander team of Bailey Vitek, Kennedy Bietz, Martina DeBoer and Grace Fryda won the 4x100 relay in 54.92 seconds.

Avon’s Courtney Sees won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 2 3/4 inches, while also anchoring the 4x400 relay team of Alexa Sees, Tiffany Pelton and Sarah Swier that raced to a win in 4 minutes, 35.25 seconds.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour’s Megan Reiner ran 1 minute, 4.40 seconds to win the 400, while also taking part in the winning 4x200 relay team of Mykah Keller, Faith Goehring and Hannah Whitney that ran 1 minute, 56.49 seconds.

FAM’s Jada Koerner won the 3,200 in 12 minutes, 27.01 seconds. Andes Central/Dakota Christian’s Leah Brown, Josie Brouwer, Allison Muckey, Isabella Brouwer won the sprint medley in 4 minutes, 39.43 seconds.
