Tate Deinert's double-double pushed Mount Vernon/Plankinton past Mitchell Christian 58-53 in a high school boys basketball game on Friday in Mitchell.
Deinert finished the game with 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, while Devin Rihanek added 19 points and nine rebounds.
The Golden Eagles led 17-11 after the first quarter and held a 30-25 advantage at halftime. MVP outscored Mitchell Christian 20-12 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.
"It could have went either way," MCS head coach Dennis Martin said. "We were right there, but we just couldn't quite get over the hump."
Ethan Cooper scored 17 points to lead MCS, while Zach Bosworth added 11 points. Majok Kur finished with eight points and five rebounds.

The Golden Eagles finished the game 22-of-38 from the field for 57 percent shooting, but committed 16 turnovers in the loss.
MVP went 15-of-42 from the field for 35 percent and made 19 of 23 free throws.
MCS (8-11) closes out its regular season against Wessington Springs today in Wessington Springs.
"We hope to come out and play well," Martin said. "We got a few things to work on before districts, but the kids are looking forward to it."
The Titans (14-6) will play the winner between West Central and Bon Homme on Thursday in the Region 5A tournament in Mount Vernon.
