Tigers drop five dual matches on Friday

KEARNEY, Neb.--The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team dropped five dual matches at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Midwest Duals on Friday in Kearney, Neb.

KEARNEY, Neb.-The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team dropped five dual matches at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Midwest Duals on Friday in Kearney, Neb.

DWU (0-13) dropped a tight 25-23 contest to Hastings College in the first match and then fell to Doane College 36-6, Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) 37-17, Northwest Kansas Tech 28-21 and Wayland Baptist 28-23.

Individually, senior Trever DeVestern, wrestling at 165 pounds, won all three of his matches, adding to his all-time DWU career wins record. Freshman Matt Schirado (197) secured four wins and junior heavyweight Trevor Peter picked up two in the event.

The Tigers take on St. Olaf College in a nonconference matchup at 7 p.m. Thursday in Northfield, Minn.
