SIOUX FALLS -- A men’s doubles team from Mitchell captured the $10,000 United States Tennis Association South Dakota Adult Open on Sunday.
Jacob Dahme and Tyler McEntee did not drop a set in three matches through their pursuit of a championship.
After a first round bye, Dahme and McEntee beat the team of Christopher Bestworth (Sioux Falls) and Mark Ference (Pipestone, Minnesota), 6-1, 6-2. The Mitchell tandem then beat Andrew Volin (San Jose, California) and Curtis Wong (Sioux Falls), 6-4, 6-1.
Finally, Dahme and McEntee beat the Sioux Falls team of Terry Hofer and Chad Pesicka in the finals, 6-0, 7-5.
Mitchell’s Chad Larson also teamed with Yankton’s Leah Branaugh to finish second in mixed doubles. Larson and Branaugh went 1-1 in round robin play and lost to Jacob and Karen Smith, of Double Oak, Texas, 3-6, 6-4, 6-10 in the finals.
