Strong fourth quarter propels Golden Eagle girls

FREEMAN--The Mitchell Christian girls basketball team outscored Freeman Academy/Marion by seven in the fourth quarter and defeated the Bearcats 46-42 on Saturday in Freeman.

FREEMAN-The Mitchell Christian girls basketball team outscored Freeman Academy/Marion by seven in the fourth quarter and defeated the Bearcats 46-42 on Saturday in Freeman.

Trailing 36-33 entering the final frame, the Golden Eagles outscored the Bearcats 13-6 in the final eight minutes to secure the win. MCS also trailed 27-22 at halftime.

Anna Cooper led MCS with 16 points and eight rebounds. Erica Thompson and Charlotte Haag both had 10 points apiece. Haag hauled in seven rebounds and Thompson had four steals.

Rachel Miller led FAM with 14 points and five assists. Annie Carlson added 10 points and six rebounds. Andrea Wollman finished with eight points and six boards.

FAM (2-5) plays at Flandreau Indian School on Thursday. Mitchell Christian (3-3) hosts Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Thursday.
