DWU softball swept in doubleheader

ABERDEEN—The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team dropped both of its games Friday at the Presentation College Dome Classic. The Tigers (1-5) fell 2-1 to NAIA No. 25 Valley City State, then dropped a 14-3 game to NCAA Division II Northern State University in five innings.

Andriana Sprakel had a pair of hits for the Tigers against VCSU, while Sierra Haage recorded the team's only RBI. Haage also threw a complete game, allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out four.

Against NSU, Allison McElveny went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, while Devany Farris drove in a run. Alyson VanderPol suffered the loss, giving up five earned runs on eight hits and a walk over 1 1/3 innings.

The Tigers play Mayville State and Dickinson State today in Aberdeen.
