Josephine Bardsley struck early for the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s soccer team. She netted a pair of first-half goals to help the Tigers open their season with a 2-0 win over Waldorf (Iowa) on Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.

Bardsley, who accounted for all three of DWU’s three shots on goal, scored 2 minutes, 3 seconds into the match. She added her second goal at the 14:26 mark, with Alondra Partida assisting on both goals.

With the lead in hand, Hannah Bowes started the season by notching a clean sheet. She saved seven shots as Waldorf out-shot the Tigers, 15-7.

The Tigers (1-0) play Bethany (Kan.) at noon Friday in Lindsborg, Kansas.
