SIOUX FALLS-Sixteen area wrestlers are in tonight's championship bouts at the state wrestling tournament at the Premier Center in Sioux Falls.
Both Mitchell High School semifinalists-Briggs Havlik and Carson Max-each won their matches to advance to tonight's championship round. Havlik defeated Dakota Valley's Collin Becker 7-2 to advance to the 160-pound championship. Havlik (38-3) will meet Aberdeen Central's Collin Harr (45-7) for the title.
Max (31-3) defeated Huron's Gabe Rieger 9-3 in the semifinals at 195 pounds. He will take on Sioux Falls Roosevelt's Joey Otta (37-5), who earned a second-period pin over Pierre's Gage Gehring.
Also in Class A, Chamberlain advanced two wrestlers to the championships. Max Donovan (44-4) earned a pin over Sturgis' Tristan Permann in 3 minutes, 23 seconds at 113 pounds. He will take on Douglas/Rapid City Christian's William George (44-8).
Cubs' heavyweight and defending state champion Nash Hutmacher and Beresford/Alcester-Hudson's Nick Casperson each did their part to set up a highly anticipated match in the championship round. Hutmacher (45-0) pinned Kaden Johnson, of Aberdeen Central, in 1:55, and will take on Casperson (37-0), who moved up from 195 pounds before the region tournament and took on the challenge.

Two Class B championships will feature area wrestlers and the top-two seeds in their brackets. McCook Central/Montrose's Paul Lauck (51-2) will take on Winner Area's Sam Kruger (49-3) for the championship at 145 pounds, as Lauck and Kruger were seeded No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
Top-seeded Evan Kizer, of Howard, will take on Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney's Jesse Hastings (22-2) in the championship match at 220 pounds. Kizer (38-4) was the source of both of Hastings' losses on the season in December.
In addition to Kruger, Winner Area will have three wrestlers in the championship. Kaden Keiser (49-4), wrestling at 106 pounds, will take on Braden Sehr (40-1). Keiser beat Howard's Lane Miller 6-3 in the semifinals.
Atlas Willuweit will represent the Warriors at 120 pounds, taking on Philip's McCoy Peterson (30-0) in the championship match. Willuweit (39-3) took down Elk Point-Jefferson's Zak Fowler 9-3 in the semifinals.
Winner's Wyatt Turnquist will take on Kellyn March, of Canton, for the 126-pound championship. In the semis, March (43-1) defeated Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes' Jackson Nockels with a third-period pin and Turnquist (42-3) beat Philip's Jadyn Coller 4-3.
Also in the finals, Wagner's Lance Soukup (30-7) will take on Canton's Braxton Trowbridge (34-6) at 113 pounds after a second-period pin of Howard's Kieffer Klinkhammer in the semifinals.
Jackson Eklund, of Burke/Gregory, will take on Caden Lamer, of Tri-Valley in the 138-pound final Both wrestlers are 35-1 but Lamer is wrestling for his fourth straight state championship for the Mustangs. Eklund won his semifinal 8-1 over Mobridge-Pollock's Jaden Schilling.
Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon will represented by Kaleb Crownover in the 138-pound title match, and Josh Crownover in the 160-pound championship. Kaleb Crownover (38-5) will face Josh Weisbrod, of Clark/Willow Lake after a 9-3 win over Jaden Dominisse, of Canton.

Josh Crownover (34-9) will take on Canton's Shaeden Scheidt (35-6) after defeating Parkston's Dawson Semmler 4-3 in the semifinals.
Howard's Aidyn Feldhaus qualified for the championship match at 182 pounds with a 5-3 decision over Stone Jensen, of Mobridge-Pollock. He will wrestle Redfield's Barrett Wren, who dealt Elk Point-Jefferson's Logan Donelan his first loss of the season in the semifinals.
The championship round is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., with the championship matches in both classes occurring simultaneously.
