BROOKINGS -- Six games into South Dakota State University's 2014-15 women's basketball season, Macy Miller and Kerri Young have proven to be key pieces for head coach Aaron Johnston.

The Jackrabbits (4-2) have seven games left before they open Summit League play against Denver on Jan. 2 in Brookings. So far this year, both Miller and Young, former Mitchell Kernels, have started in all six games for SDSU.

Young leads the team in assists with 28 and is third on the team in total points (63) and points per game (10.5). The sophomore guard is shooting more than 50 percent from the field, going 23-for-42 on field goals and making nine of 16 3-pointers.

In her debut season with SDSU, Miller has scored 46 total points and is averaging 7.7 points per game. The freshman point guard has had to adjust to the college game quickly and is tied for second on the team with five blocks, while shooting 15-of-41 from the field and 1-of-11 from behind the arc.

SDSU has two road games against Arkansas on Thursday and Northern Colorado on Sunday, before returning home. The Jackrabbits host the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Dec. 10 in Brookings.
