Second-half rally sends DWU men past Trojans

DWU men win its 11th straight contest.

MADISON -- The No. 18 Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team extended its win streak to 11 games with a 69-60 victory over Dakota State University on Wednesday.

The Tigers needed to rally after falling behind 41-32 at halftime. Its defense, which held DSU to 25 percent shooting in the second half, held the Trojans to 19 second-half points. DSU made 2 of 11 3-pointers after the break, allowing the Tigers to rally for the win.

The Tigers had four players score in double figures, including Koln Oppold, who had a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double to go with six assists. Nick Harden and Ace Zorr both had 13 points and Mason Larson chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds. Emery native Sawyer Schultz dished out five assists.

Josh McGreal’s 14 points led the Trojans, while Ronnie Latting added 13 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Lynn recorded 11 points and nine boards. Gare Ewefada chipped in 10 points.

DWU (11-1) plays Doane (Neb.) at 4 p.m. Saturday in Crete, Nebraska.
