FARGO, N.D. - A two-win North Dakota State University women's basketball team gave South Dakota State all it could handle Wednesday night to open Summit League play before the Jacks pulled out a 69-66 victory at the Scheels Center.
The Bison led 27-19 after the first quarter and led by one point after three quarters, taking advantage of strong early shooting.
Madison Guebert had 24 points and drilled six 3-pointers to lead the Jackrabbits. Mitchell native Kerri Young had 20 points on 9-of-17 shooting and nine rebounds. Plankinton native Megan Bultsma had two points and two rebounds off the bench.
The Bison (2-12, 0-1 Summit) had four players in double figures, led by Taylor Thunstedt's 21 points.
SDSU (10-3, 1-0 Summit) will play at South Dakota on Saturday, with tip-off scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Vermillion.
