TROY, Mich. -- Mitchell's Jacob Cersosimo scored a goal, helping the U16 South Dakota National Hockey Team defeat the Greensboro Stars 4-2 Wednesday at the youth national hockey championships.
Cersosimo scored the third goal for Team South Dakota, and the team also earned goals from Spencer Riddle, Skyler Sutton and Brooks Mitzel.
Greensboro struck first and led 2-1 at the end of the first period, but Team South Dakota responded with three unanswered goals through the final two periods.
"The boys started off shaky, but once we shook the nerves, they came together to pull off the win," South Dakota coach Mac Blais said.
Team South Dakota outshot Greensboro, of North Carolina, 31-25 in the game.

The U16 team plays AHU Knights, of Arizona, in its second game in pool play at 2 p.m. central time today.
The U14 South Dakota National Hockey Team also won their opening game 2-1 over Seattle Bantam Minor Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C.
Jack Oberg scored the team's two goals in the game.
The U14 team plays the Utah Grizzlies in its second pool-play game at 10:55 p.m. Central time today.
