WINNER - By racking up 13 hits and scoring in five different innings, the Winner/Colome prep baseball team locked up the top seed in Region 4B with a 16-9 victory of Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake/Corsica-Stickney on Friday at Leahy Bowl in Winner.
The Royals (10-0), who were playing as the away team, took an early 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning. Winner/Colome added on two more runs in the top of the second inning before PGDCWLCS plated two runs to make the score 3-2 after three innings.
Winner/Colome responded with five runs in the top of the fourth inning and two in the top of the fifth inning to lead 10-2. The Honkers scored a combined seven runs in the sixth and seventh inning, but the Royals added on six more runs in the same two innings.
Carter Brickman had two hits, including a triple, while Ty Bolton and Chase Dufek each had two hits. Jackson Kinzer finished the game with three RBIs, while Riley Calhoon and Levi McLanahan each had two RBIs.
On the mound, Kinzer earned the win, giving up two runs on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks in five innings pitched.

For the Honkers, Dylan Mohnen took the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks in three innings pitched. Carter Fredericksen went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, while Chandler Fredericksen and Payton Foxley each added a hit and two RBIs.
PGDCWLCS (7-2) plays Todd County at 3 p.m. today in Platte, while Winner/Colome will be the top seed in the Region 4B tournament next week.
