Mitchell's home gymnastics finale was more than just comfortable for the Kernels Monday.
It was exceptional.
Mitchell scored a season-high 147.450 points as a team and swept the individual awards in another victory at the MEGA Gymnastics Center in the Mitchell quadrangular. Parkston/Ethan/Hanson was second with 129.600 points, with Sioux Falls Roosevelt in at 126.100 and Wagner fourth at 124.700.
"It was an awesome day," Mitchell coach Audra Rew. "I think we're just at that right time of the season and it's fun to be in our home gym and it's fun to be competing in front of our fans."
It was Mitchell's highest team score in a regular season meet since two years ago, when the Kernels scored 147.700 in its home triangular at nearly the same point in the season.

"We've been working some hard skills and since it was our gym and our equipment, they were able to hit them," Rew said.
There were also season-best performances all over Mitchell's individual scores. Maria Krall paced Mitchell with the all-around title, scoring 37.650, with second-place finisher Gracie Czmowski (37.500) also posting a season-best mark. Third-place finisher Kaylee Bauder scored 36.200.
Krall won the vault (9.600) and bars (9.100), while Czmowski was the winner on beam (9.600) and floor (9.500). Bauder was second on vault (9.500), with Czmowski second on bars (9.000) and Krall second on both floor (9.450) and beam (9.5).
"It was a really good day for those three and they're really coming into their own," Rew said. "I think they're really getting comfortable and hitting some of those difficult skills that they know they can."
Montrose's Jocelyn Krouse, who is competing on her own once again this season, was fourth in the all-around, scoring 35.650. Mitchell's Masy Mock was fifth (35.150), powered by a sixth-place score on the balance beam (8.600).
Parkston/Ethan/Hanson's Tyra Zens tied for sixth in the all-around, scoring 34.700. She tied with Mitchell's Alyssa Hughes and Bailey Roden, who is the Kernels' lone senior and was honored after the meet Monday.
