WINNER — Winner’s Adam Bohnet and Burke’s Piper Hanson paced the track and field athletes competing on Saturday, April 2, each winning three events at the Bill Pistulka Invite in Winner.
Hanson dominated the hurdles, winning both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles on the girls side. She clocked a 16.2 time in the 100m and a 51.1 time in the 300m. The Burke girls had four of the top six finishers in the 300m hurdles, with Emmie Hausmann (55.9), Brylie Pistulka (56.5) and Daytona Paris (58.0) finishing fourth through sixth respectively.
Hanson also combined with Pistulka, Braelyn Duerfeldt and Bridget Bartling to win the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:54.4, the only team to finish with a time under two minutes.
On the boys side, Bohnet was almost as dominant in the short distance races, winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.9 seconds and the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.4 seconds. His third win came in the 4x100m relay as he combined with Finnegan Bartels, Shawn Hammerbeck and Michael Olson for a time of 46.2 seconds.
Also on the boys side, Burke’s Taron Serr picked up a win in the 110m hurdles at 16.4 seconds while finishing second in the 400m dash with a time of 57.3 seconds. He also got a win in the 4x200m relay, clocking a 1:39.5 time with Jackson Bauld, Gentry Bartling and Breven Bolander.

Winner’s Kylie Sachtjen won two of the three jumping events on the girls side, logging a five-foot leap to win the high jump and a leap of 31 feet, 9 inches in the triple jump. She also got two wins in the relays; she combined with Kelsey Sachtjen, Keelie Kuil and Jenna Hammerbeck for a 53.8 second time in the 4x100m relay while Sidda Schuyler joined the two Sachtjen girls and Kuil for a 4:34.5 time in the 4x400m relay.
Burke's Paige Bull had a great day as well, logging a win and a personal record in discus with a throw of 111 feet, nine inches while placing second in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 8.5 inches, also a personal best.
