ABERDEEN — The Mitchell youth wrestling team had three state champions at the South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association's AAU championships at the Barnett Center on the campus of Northern State University.
Frankie Kranz won the title in the Girls C (grades 6-8) division at 110 pounds. Kranz won three matches, including two by pin, which included a 2:15 pin over Lennox's Jocelyn Thoms in the championship match.
In the 16-and-under division, Sean Foote won the 182-pound weight class, winning a pair of matches after getting a bye in the first round and a forfeit in the quarterfinals. Foote defeated Faulkton's Tristen Baloun in the semifinals by 12-2 technical fall and recorded a 50-second pin of Tea Area's Jeremiah Wilgers in the championship match.
At 285 pounds, Rocky Clark won the 16-and-under title by winning a three-wrestler round-robin over Viborg-Hurley's Jacob Johnson and Sioux Falls Jefferson's Braxton Bulick. Clark won both his matches by technical fall 10-0 and 11-1 in the tournament.
A number of other Kernels had top-eight podium finishes in Aberdeen. In the 16-and-under weight classes, Kale Hofer took fifth at 113 pounds. Cannon Zoss finished in sixth place at 138 pounds and Tanner Longhenry was seventh at 126 pounds. Mitchell's Oscar Luque finished in sixth place at 152 pounds, as well.

At the Bantam weights, Hendrix Ehlke finished in third place at 65 pounds and Peyton Puepke finished in eighth place at 44 pounds.
In Schoolboy classes, Noah Bennett finished fourth at 100 pounds, and Blaze Sevigny was sixth at the 90-pound weight class. Titus Sevigny was eighth in the Novice division at 82 pounds for Mitchell.
In the Girls A division, Sofia Alarcon finished seventh at the 45-pound weight class. Ellie Holmberg was the sixth-place finish at 91 pounds in the Girls C division.
