Three MEGA Gymnastics club gymnasts advancing to region championships

Three MEGA Gymnastics club gymnasts are advancing to the region championships next month after their performances at the South Dakota State Gymnastics Championships.

SIOUX FALLS — Three MEGA Gymnastics club gymnasts are advancing to the region championships next month after their performances at the South Dakota State Gymnastics Championships.

The meet was held March 25 in Sioux Falls. Kyra Gropper, Emily Moody and Kyanna Gropper each advanced to the regional competition set for April 14-15, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Kyra Gropper won the Level 8 senior division floor exercise title with a score of 9.225, and was second on uneven bars (8.750), while taking home third in the all-around scores (35.350).

Kyanna Gropper won the Level 8 senior uneven bars with a score of 9.075, and was second in the all-around scoring with a mark of 35.575. She was also third on vault (9.150).

Emily Moody was the Level 8 senior vault champion with a score of 9.450, and was third on both balance beam (8.850) and floor exercise (9.200). Moody finished fourth in the all-around (34.975). The three helped MEGA finish in fourth place as a team.

In Level 9 competition, Olivia Prunty won the vault with a score of 9.200 and she was third in the all-around scoring (33.000).

MEGA was third as a team in the Xcel Platinum division. Team members included Piper Reichert, Nova Long, Kennedy Vilhauer, Payton Hofer, Claire Sommer and Abby Hohn. Hohn finished second on floor (9.350) and vault (8.800) and third on beam (8.350), while taking fourth in the all-around scoring. Reichert was fourth on beam (8.950), fifth on floor (9.250) and finished seventh in the all-around (34.675), while teammate Nova Long was fourth on uneven bars (8.925), fifth on vault (8.600) and was ninth in the all-around (33.950).

In the Gold division as a team, MEGA was fourth. Members of the team include Rylee Heinrich, Reghan Willis-O'Connor, Kira DeJong, Cheyenne Hohn, Lawler Bottum, Jayden Hofer, Hayden Seitz, Audrey Mudder, Bridget Thomas, Chacey Nogy, Abbe McClure, Allison Walz and Molly Kirkpatrick. Willis-O’Connor finished tied for fourth in the Xcel Gold floor exercise with a 9.200 score. Walz was fourth on balance beam (9.200) for MEGA. Mudder had a fifth-place finish in the balance beam (8.975) and was ninth in the all-around scoring (35.100). Bottum finished fourth on beam (8.950) and all-around (35.475) and was sixth on vault (8.700).

At Level 6, Ariel Wermers was seventh, scoring 34.625 in the all-around scoring, including a third-place finish on vault (8.750) and fourth on uneven bars (8.450).

In Level 4, Wren Muntefering finished in fourth place on vault (8.500) and fifth on floor (8.675), taking seventh overall in the all-around (32.150). Meryl Tschetter was sixth on floor (8.625) and took eighth in the all-around (31.225).
