Steady offense paces No. 5 Ethan boys in win over Mitchell Christian

Ethan claimed home victories in both boys and girls action on Thursday night.

ETHAN, S.D. — The fifth-ranked Ethan boys basketball team pulled out to a 20-11 lead after one quarter and didn’t look back, defeating Mitchell Christian, 71-50 on Thursday night.

The Rustlers maintained their advantage throughout the contest behind a consistent scoring effort, recording at least 16 points in all four quarters while never allowing more than 14 in a period to the Golden Eagles.

Four Ethan starters reached double figures in scoring, led by Wyatt Sinkie’s 15 points and Riley Endres’ 13. Kody Klumb and Logan Koch chipped in 10 points each.

For MCS, Aiden Lieber paced all scorers with 24 points to go with eight rebounds and three steals as Braedon Nebelsick notched 16 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Ethan (10-1) hosts Howard on Friday night, while MCS (4-7) hosts Kimball/White Lake on Saturday.


Ethan girls ground Golden Eagles

ETHAN, S.D. — A surging Ethan girls squad proved too much for Mitchell Christian, as the Rustlers earned a 75-23 home win on Thursday night.

Marissa Storm led all scorers with 22 points on the way to Ethan’s fourth win over the past seven days.

Rebekah Strong and Kelsey Holdeman each had four points for the Golden Eagles.

Ethan (9-2) hosts Howard on Friday night. MCS (0-12) hosts Kimball/White Lake on Monday, Jan. 30.
