Mitchell cheer, dance teams compete at Watertown Invitational

Kernels compete for second time this season

WATERTOWN, S.D. — The Mitchell High School competitive cheer and dance teams were in action on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the Watertown Invitational, with both teams bringing in 10th place finishes.

In dance, the Kernels scored 216.25 points, taking 10th place out of 14 teams. Mitchell scored 223 points in jazz and 209.5 points in hip hop, which is averaged for the total score.

Brandon Valley was the champions in the dance competition, scoring 291.75 points, followed by Harrisburg in second at 284 points and Sioux Falls Washington in third with 282.

On the cheer side, Mitchell scored 195.5 points. Harrisburg scored 272.5 points, followed by Sioux Falls Jefferson in second with 265.5 points and O'Gorman in third with 251.5 points.

Mitchell competes again at the Pierre Invitational on Sept. 3.
