SIOUX FALLS — The Mitchell High School boys golf team got its season started on Monday and Tuesday at the Warrior-Lynx Invitational.
The two-day tournament took place at Brandon Golf Course on Monday before transitioning to Willow Run Course in Sioux Falls on Tuesday
The Kernels finished in sixth place out of the 16-team field, shooting a 70-over par, 634 as a team through the two days. MHS shot 319 the first day and 315 the second.
Lincoln Bates shot the best round for the Kernels on Day 2, shooting a 75 and finishing the tournament tied for 30th, while Asher Dannenbring used his 76 on the first day to place the best among the Mitchell competitors, tying for 13th overall after shooting an 80 on the second day.
Noah Larson shot an 81 in the first round and a 78 in the second to come in tied for 21st, and Jackson Childs came in 25th with rounds of 78 and 82 on the first and second day, respectively.

Carter McCormick and Jager Juracek only played the Willow Run courses and shot 84 and 86, respectively.
O’Gorman won the tournament by 29 strokes, finishing 15-over par as a group, while Pierre and Watertown tied for second at 44-over par. Radley Mauney led the way for O’Gorman as the only player in the field under par, firing a 5-under tournament that included a 64 on Day 1 and a 72 on Day 2.
