MITCHELL — Mitchell senior volleyball player Lizzie Tyler was named to the all-Eastern South Dakota Conference team on Monday.
Tyler, a 5-foot-6 senior outside hitter, led the team with 243 kills and a hitting percentage of .215. She was also tops on the Kernels in aces (33) and digs (384). She had a season-high 37 digs in a win over Douglas in September and had nine aces in a season-opening win over Sturgis on Aug. 26. She was the Kernels' lone representative on the 12-member all-ESD team.
For her career, Tyler finished with 840 kills, 80 blocks, 1,492 digs and 218 aces.
Mitchell finished the season at 7-17. Four teams had two selections to the all-state team, including Aberdeen Central, Brandon Valley, Harrisburg and Pierre.
All but three of the selections were seniors, with Aberdeen Central junior Grace Kuch, Brandon Valley junior Mya Hejl and Harrisburg freshman Gabi Zachariasen each named to the team.
