Gregory boys, Chamberlain girls take fifth at Scott Underwood Invitational

A few Mitchell-area teams were in action at the Scott Underwood Invitational in Brookings on Monday.

BROOKINGS — A few Mitchell-area teams were in action at the indoor Scott Underwood Invitational in Brookings on Monday.

Gregory’s Daniel Mitchell came in first place at the boys high jump, as the only athlete to clear 6 feet, clearing as high as 6 feet, 4 inches.

Chamberlain’s Kinsey Evans, Aine Graesser, Kylah Biggins and Allison Hough placed second in the girls 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:15.05. In the boys 4x800, Gregory’s quartet of Finn Adams, Luke Barreto, Pierce Stukel and Luke Sinclair came in fourth at 8:48.09.

Gregory’s Kade Stukel placed third in the boys 100-meter dash with a time of 11.31 and the boys 200-meter dash with a time of 23.09. Asia VanDerWerff came in fifth in the girls 400-meter dash for the Gorillas with a time of 1:02.36.

Evans (11:57.95) and Graesser (12:04.29) finished first and second, respectively, in the girls 3200-meter run, with Kimball/White Lake’s Autumn Baker taking third at 12:13.84.

As a team, the Gregory boys finished fifth with 30 points, while the Chamberlain girls also came in fifth with 28 points. The Sioux Falls Christian boys (111) and girls (124.5) both placed first, while the O’Gorman boys (98.5) and girls (77.5) each came in second.
