PLANKINTON, S.D. — Mount Vernon/Plankinton took care of Chamberlain in three sets at home on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-10, 25-16, 25-14.

The Titans controlled the first two sets, and after a convincing first-set win, they opened up an 8-1 lead in the second set. MVP eventually pulled away, winning the set and taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Third set was back and forth at the beginning before MVP put the burners on to finish off the match with a sweep.

Thursday’s leaders

  • Brianna Even racked up 15 assists and 11 digs, along with six service aces, while teammate Tayah McGregor had a team-high 12 kills with three blocks in McCook/Central Montrose’s straight-set win over West Central.
  • Burke’s Adisyn Indahl recorded a 17-kill, 11-dig double-double to help Burke to a road sweep of Corsica-Stickney, as Elly Witt and Ava Sargent combined for 29 assists with three service aces apiece. 
  • Megan Reiner notched 14 kills and six digs and Gracey Schatz added 10 kills and seven digs for Tripp-Delmont/Armour, as the Nighthawks swept Sanborn Central/Woonsocket.
  • Though it came in a four-set defeat to Bridgewater-Emery, Avon’s Courtney Sees had a big night with 22 kills, 29 digs and one block. The Huskies were paced by 16 kills and two blocks by Lexie Golder.
  • Northwestern’s Ella Haven posted 17 kills, nine digs, three service aces and one solo block in a three-set sweep of Faulkton Area.
  • Elkton-Lake Benton’s Rachael Krog tallied a double-double with 13 kills and 19 digs, pacing the team in both, in a three-set win over Deubrook Area.
  • In a three-set win over Clark/Willow Lake, Camryn Rohlfs picked up 39 set assists and two service aces for Redfield. Gracie Fast led the Pheasants with 14 kills in the win.
  • Sioux Falls Christian had four players pick up double-digit kills in a three-set win over Canton, as Ellie Lems, Peyton Poppema, Sidney Oostra and Taylor Byl all tallied 10 kills.
  • Martina DeBoer, Trinity Bietz, Kalley Vitek and Bailey Vitek all had a double-double for Scotland in a five-set win over Centerville. DeBoer had 16 kills, 14 digs, four blocks and an ace, while Bietz had 15 kills and 10 digs. Kalley Vitek picked up 43 set assists and 10 digs, and Bailey Vitek racked up 22 set assists and 15 digs, as well as three aces.
  • Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Becca Bich had 10 set assists and eight service aces in a straight-set win over Sunshine Bible Academy.
